16/06/2009 12:00:00
For the second round in a row Repsol Montesa HRC's Toni Bou won both days of competition, but Day Two saw him manage only a narrow victory over his team-mate Takahisa Fujinami. Third place went to Adam Raga – Gas Gas who was once again off the pace.
There was only a single clean between Bou and Fujinami despite the fact that the day's drier conditions meant the organisers increased the severity of five sections overnight, to keep the scores on par with the previous day. Dougie Lampkin – Beta had another excellent competition, achieving yet another fourth place and losing to Raga by only a single clean. Bou is now nineteen points clear of Raga with four rounds to go.
Yet again Beta's Alexz Wigg and Jack Challoner achieved first and second respectively in the Junior class with third going again to Matteo Grattarola – Sherco. After another fourth place by Alfredo Gomez, Wigg has a twenty-five point lead in the overall standings, with Challoner’s results putting him just outside the top three.
Further back-to-back wins were achieved by Jonathan Richardson – Sherco in the Youth category giving him a thirty-five point lead overall with only four rounds remaining. Belgium's Maxime Warenghien – Sherco came second with Tanguy Mottin – Gas Gas in third.
