The Managers Story
I have not rushed into this, I have done a lot of homework. Everything points to this being an uphill struggle but it also reinforces to me everyday in feedback, how much this British team is needed.
I had only enjoyed the excitement of the World Circuit for 3 years. Like everyone, I went along to watch and "got hooked" and have been every year since. There is nothing to match it from a spectators point of view.
I was born into a trials family, riding my first bike as a nipper. My wife's family are also extremely involved in Trials. One of my daughters is long term girlfriend of Michael Brown, a top GB rider for a foreign team and the other, Emma, is the long term girlfriend of top GB rider James Dabill.
As stated, I know it is going to be extremely hard work to make corporate sponsors understand that now is the time to support trials. I am hoping that they will understand that these young adults representing us abroad have worked hard to get there, many sacrificing a lot of their youth. They now need to feel that their country is behind them. There is no better way than giving them the finance they need so they are concentrating on their riding ability and not how to get the finances together to get to the next round!
Ace Trials team has now been standing proud in the main working paddocks of the trials world since 2007. With the Union Jack flying and the yellow and blue team colours now an accepted part of every world round.
In the first two years "Ace" has silenced it's critics and surpassed it's own expectations and aims. Because of Ace Trials Team Britain has, in the last two years, enjoyed British trials riders standing on the podiums for a British team, no less than Five times.
In 2009 the team is undergoing major changes that will propel it even further forward.
Ace Trials Team has succeeded because there was a real need for it!
